Obi100 setup 911
Obihai was acquired by Polycom and GV doesn't seem to be a priority anymore. It is no longer recognized by the OBiTalk portal. It is also unclear what the status of OBi device sales are as that device is not on the Poly product page. When you link an Obi device, do you lose your Google Voice number? As I understand it, Obi does not give you a phone number whereas Magic Jack does. With E service, do you dial an E before to use it or just ? In other words, the Obi device is just providing you a way to use a regular telephone with your Google voice phone number.
It is the GV number that is used for outbound caller ID. For you still just dial to get through to emergency services BUT you need to add this feature, for a fee, to your Obihai account as it does not get handled by Google Voice, it's through another provider. My Obi worked great with Google Voice until last week when there was a lightning strike. I need to replace it so I can connect my analog phone to GV. Is the Obi the only remaining analog phone adapter left that will work with GV?
If there are others, please recommend some. Seems Obi was discontinued. Do you think that means it will likely soon stop working with GV? Help, not sure what to buy to replace my blown out Obi They should still work fine with Google Voice. If I port my cell to Obi, will my cell phone function as before? My cell phone is registered with E through T- Mobile.
Would I still need to use the Anveo service? The phone would still work but over WiFi only. Yes you would need a provider such as Anveo for E Is it possible to connect my google hangouts account to obihai? Only Google voice can go through Obihai.
If so it may be the DTMF setting that needs to be altered. I have an OBI I get a dial tone, but no incoming and outgoing calls from the google voice SP1. In this guide we will go through configuring the OBi in order to register to the Callcentric servers so that you will be able to place and receive calls using your Callcentric account.
Before moving forward please ensure you have properly added the device to your network by connecting it to your router or gateway. The device should be plugged in and the status lights should be green. We recommend that you read each step through in its entirety before performing the action indicated in the step. Note: This device supports many advanced options. Only the basic required ones are explored in this setup guide.
If you need further help with any specific issue please let us know. First we will acquire the IP address of your device, if you haven't already done so. If your IP is 0. If this is your first time logging into your device you may be asked to enter a username and password. By default for admin login this should be: User: admin Password: admin If you do not have this information then you will need to either reset or acquire this login information.
Unfortunately we would not be able to provide support on this topic. On reflection I think it might be worth re-posting, except that this time I'm not going to point fingers at any one individual, because I think that there are many of us that could potentially fall into this role if we're not careful, myself included.
I have observed that on far too many forums, it seems like there's one guy who for whatever reason feels like it's his duty to jump in and "help" people with his questionable advice, and he will almost never admit when he's wrong.
And once he's started to "help" someone he gets ticked off if anyone else offers advice especially if they offer better advice than he did. There's been a guy like that in at least two of the major VoIP forums that I can think of right off the bat, and they have been seriously detrimental to both forums.
And when you have a guy like that, he can actually drive away some of the helpful people who know what they are talking about. Please - don't be that guy! Inactive, no longer posting or responding to messages. Goodbye and good luck. Quote from: RonR on March 14, , am. Member Posts: Thanks jimates, this works great! I now have and set up. However, anyone thinking about replacing landline with an Obi using Google Talk might want to make sure a 7 or digit emergency number exists.
I talked to the Emergency Management Director in my area, and no such number exists. She did, however, give me a 7-digit non-emergency number. She warned me that although it will ring the call center, any calls coming in on it will be at the end of the queue.
She said it's better than nothing, but she recommended that I use my cell phone for service if possible. She also recommended that I write down my address and put it near any phone connected to my Obi in case any guests need to call , they will need the address for the dispatcher. That was no concern to me as I didn't have a landline anyway. Another solution for those worried about , is to get a landline phone system with multiple handsets that support Bluetooth.
I have an inexpensive VTech system that works pretty well for that. Calls on any handset around the house can be routed to either my wife's cell phone or mine. I figure that, plus having Obi set up to dial the call center, I should hopefully have no trouble reaching emergency services should it be needed.

That guide was written before the "Expert Configuration" was available from the Obitak portal and everything had to be done from the Obi's web portal. I don't have my Obi connected anymore but it should look the same except the phone physical interface from the Expert Config. I edited the guide for management from both the device's web interface and the Obi Expert Configuration.
You are correct in understanding what to add for the modifications.
